The 2011 Wachovia
Palmetto Championships

The Wachovia Palmetto Championships is the qualifying tournament for the Southern Closed Championships.  Each player South Carolina endorses to play in the Southern Closed Championships has to play Belton unless he or she has a 2010 national year-end ranking of top 10 or 2010 Southern year-end ranking of top 5 in the age division they wish to play.  Players must compete in the Palmetto in the age division in which they are seeking Southern endorsement unless they qualify for a waiver. Players must play singles to be endorsed.

Each player is responsible for their on-line entry into the Southern Closed Championships prior to the entry deadline (June 11).  If you wish to play the Southern Closed, you are encouraged to enter online, even if you feel you may not be endorsed within the South Carolina quota.

The dates and locations for the 2010 Southern Closed Championships are:

Your credit card will not be charged until you are selected to participate in the tournament. If you wait until you come to Belton to enter, computers will be available for your on-line entry. You must enter prior to 12:00 Midnight on Friday, June 10, 2011. No entries will be accepted after the deadline, even if you are selected within the South Carolina quota.

Players are expected to compete all matches (including consolation and playoff) in the tournament. Without a justifiable excuse for injury, illness or family emergency players will not be endorsed to the Southern Closed Championships.

South Carolina's 2011 quota is 11 in the 10's, 12 in the 12's and 14 in the 14's, 16's & 18's.

The dates listed are subject to change if the tournament experiences rain delays.

Making the quarterfinals of the main draw does not guarantee a “Top 8” finish or endorsement to the Southern Closed Championships.  Finishing in the “Top 12” will help, but not guarantee endorsement.  Some alternate positions may be available.  Alternates are selected based on 2011 Southern player standing.

The endorser will be available during the week.  Times and locations will be posted at the tournament desk.  Endorsement Lists will be posted online before 5:00 PM on Friday, June 10 at www.sctennis.com.  Southern Closed qualifier t-shirts will be given to all players who are in the quota.
