Palmetto Championships
Because the Palmetto is a Southern Level 3 tournament and the qualifier for the Southern Closed Championships, the USTA Southern standings will be primary consideration used. The USTA Southern Seeding Criteria is as follows:
SINGLES SEEDING CRITERIA
Seeding will be based primarily on the most recently published USTA Southern Combined Standings Lists of the division in the order in which players appear on the list.
The definition of the Most Recently Published USTA Southern Combined Standings Lists for a Southern Level 3 Tournament is the published list used for selections prior to the date of seeding the tournament.
In addition to the list, other criteria to consider:
- Players who have a standing in a younger age division may be seeded in any group of seeds if they are in the top 10 of the most recently published USTA Southern Combined Standings Lists of any younger age division.
- Players with current top 50 USTA National standing, top 100 ITF ranking, top 1000 ATP or WTA ranking should be considered for seeding.
DOUBLES SEEDING CRITERIA
Teams shall be seeded in the order of their combined standings (Player A holds the #1 standing and Player B holds the #10 standing. The team of A & B will have a combined standing of 11.) Teams that have the same combined standing shall be seeded in the order of the total number of ranking points held by each team.
Players with current top 50 USTA National standing, top 100 ITF ranking, top 1000 ATP or WTA ranking may be considered for seeding.
Seeding will be done by a committee consisting of tournament and state officials.
There will be approximately one seed for every four players in the draw. Seeds 5-8 and 9-16 (if necessary) will be alphabetical.
The seeding will be published to the internet at 5:00 p.m. on Monday, May 30, 2011.
Draws will be posted to the internet at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 2.
