 Main Draw Requirements & Qualifying

All 10’s and 18’s entries go into the Main draw (unless these draws exceed 64 players).  If any draw exceeds 64 players in the 18's, true 18-and-under players will be considered over 16-and-under players who are playing up.  Otherwise, the state standings on May 26, 2007 will be used to determine which players are accepted into the draw.

Main draw singles in the 12’s, 14’s & 16’s will be limited to 32 players in each age division.  Players in these age divisions are exempted into the main draw based on the following criteria:

  1. If they have a final 2007 state or southern ranking of 24 or higher and still compete in the same age division in the 2008 Palmetto.
  2. If they earned a final 2007 state or southern ranking of 12 or higher and age up to the next age division in the 2008 Palmetto.
  3. If they finished in the top 8 of the 2007 Palmetto and still compete in the same age division in the 2008 Palmetto.
  4. If they finished in the top 4 of the 2007 Palmetto and age up to the next age division in the 2008 Palmetto.
  5. If their state or southern standing is 10 or higher as of May 27, 2008 in the age division in which they wish to compete in the 2008 Palmetto.  Other than this criteria, the 2008 standings will not be considered for players who make the main draw without qualifying.

Players not meeting one of the above requirements should expect to play in the qualifying rounds.

The main draw will feature a full feed-in consolation to determine the order of finish from first through eighth places, insuring all main draw players a minimum of two singles matches.

Matches in the qualifying will not count for 2008 ranking points.
