The 2011 Wachovia
Palmetto Championships
The Wachovia Palmetto Championships is open to all boys and girls whose residence is in the state of South Carolina. USTA membership is required. Players must meet one of the following age requirements:
8-and-under born on or after July 1, 2002
10-and-under born on or after July 1, 2000
12-and-under born on or after July 1, 1998
14-and-under born on or after July 1, 1996
16-and-under born on or after July 1, 1994
18-and-under born on or after July 1, 1992
Players must play in the age division for which they are seeking endorsement to the Southern Closed and National Championships unless they receive a waiver into these events (based on the previous year's final ranking).
Players are limited to one singles and one doubles event. Players must enter doubles in the same age division as they enter singles. 10-and-under players may play in both the 10-and-under 60' Court Exhibition Tournament and the 10-and-under Main Draw Tournament. There will be no additional entry fee for the exhibition tournament for players who enter the 10-and-under main draw.
Players are asked to enter doubles with a partner. If you do not have a partner, e-mail amick@sctennis.com for help. Because different headquarter locations in different towns (Belton and Anderson) will be used, playing up in doubles will create schedule issues. Players must enter doubles in the same age division as they are playing singles.
The 12's, 14's, 16's & and 18’s singles draws will be limited to 64 players and include a full-in consolation.
The 10U singles will be limited to 32 players and feature a compass draw, and will be played in 3 days...Saturday, June 4, Sunday, June 5 and one match Monday morning, June 6.
Doubles draws are not limited and have no consolation.
All draws will be posted on the internet at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 2, 2011.
Since the singles draws are limited (64 in the 12's, 14's, 16's & 18's and 32 in the 10's), if entries exceed the number of available spots selection will be based primarily on the USTA South Carolina standings as of May 25, 2011.
All players who wish to play in the tournament should enter. Your standing may be lower than #64 (12U thru 18U) or #32 (10U), but a number of players have a standing in more than one age division, and other players in the top 64 may not enter. No draws filled up last year. You still have an excellent chance of being selected for the tournament. Your credit card will not be charged until you are selected to play in the tournament.
All players will be placed into the doubles draws. Players who do not qualify for the singles draws may still play doubles. Players must enter doubles in the same age division as they are playing singles.
