BTA president Rex Maynard said:  "We were really pleased with the turn out for this program. The matches for the older children were laid back with more emphasis on learning the game and sportsmanship than on winning. We were all encouraged with how well they were able to play and rally with each other. It was great to see the smiles on their faces, whether they were winning or losing. We worked with the younger children on the basic skills they need to take the next step into match competition. Everyone had a great time, including the instructors! The new Quick Start format is a great way to introduce kids to tennis. All other sports use a different format for children; this is something we've needed in tennis for years, and I believe it will be a huge success. We're going to continue this in Belton, and hope to see even more children playing the next time!"

The Belton Tennis Association plans to repeat Kids Team Tennis for six weeks starting in mid-September, then offer the program at least once each quarter. Anyone interested should contact Rex Maynard at 338-7751. The Belton Tennis Association is a non-profit organization whose mission is to develop and grow the game of tennis in the Belton community by using their facilities, equipment, funds, staff and volunteers to provide the best possible programs, events, socials, tournaments, lessons, clinics and any other means possible. Maynard stated: "We want as many people as possible, as often as possible, playing tennis in Belton.....for fitness, fun, recreation and competition!"
